ERP Software Advances Business To The Next Level

Company Website

Epicor Software Corporation announced that Scales Industrial Technologies Inc. of Carle Place, New York, has selected the Epicor Prophet 21 wholesale distribution enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution to increase business efficiency and streamline processes for overall performance.

With 46 years in business, Scales Industrial is an acknowledged leader in the design, installation, sale, and service of complete industrial compressed air solutions, as well as numerous other cutting-edge industrial technologies. Scales’ solutions enable customers such as United Technologies, L'Oréal, Nestlé, Hallmark, Georgia Pacific, Exxon Mobil and Pfizer to reduce energy costs while increasing productivity and reliability; this also helps raise bottom-line profitability.

Company founder/CEO Bill Scales is co-author of the industry-renowned Best Practices for Compressed Air Systems, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. An employee-owned and -operated company, Scales Industrial serves the entire Northeastern and mid-Atlantic U.S. regions and is an active member of the Association of Independent Compressor Distributors (AICD) and the Industrial Compressor Distributor Association (ICDA).

Scales’ decision to choose the Epicor solution was based on several key technology and business factors, including Epicor’s long-term vision, model for software enhancements and implementation, and approach to the distribution business. Incorporating a Microsoft Windows-based platform and SQL Server database, the Epicor solution will enable 75 users at Scales to improve warehouse, order and inventory management; purchasing automation; financial management; and reporting and business intelligence analysis.

“With the Epicor Prophet 21 system, new modules don’t need to be retrofitted to upgrade. The strong service and maintenance module is a good fit for our business,” said Rob Agnetti, director of IT at Scales. “We will be able to automate tasks in our internal workflows, which should allow us to create efficiencies in these processes and better service our customers.”

“We were also very impressed with the Epicor team; everyone we met seemed very customer-driven and knowledgeable about distribution,” said Manlio Cafiero, CFO at Scales. “Working with Epicor Business Consulting will give us the opportunity to really look at what we do. Plus, Epicor interfaces regularly with its user groups to prioritize and develop its software enhancements; that really makes a difference.”

“Scales Industrial is a good example of what we can do for members of the AICD and ICDA, and other wholesale distributors in highly specialized vertical markets seeking a vendor that understands their industry’s best practices,” said Kevin Roach, executive vice president and general manager, ERP Americas for Epicor.  “We look forward to providing the industry expertise and innovative software to support Scales’ day-to-day operations, as well as the company’s vision for growth.”
