N.S. Industrial & Design’s product line of ergonomic waste and recycling receptacles has been selected by VSBIT (Vermont School Boards Insurance Trust) for use and demonstration purposes in their new office facility and training center.

Lyall Smith, Physical Plant Consultant for VSBIT said, “I am going to promote these units to Schools and Businesses as a proactive risk management tool to reduce insurance costs and promote safe lifting practices.”

For over 25 years, VSBIT has been servicing Vermont school districts by providing cost effective risk management programs to assist member schools in protecting and conserving educational resources. Milton Town School District in Vermont has also put the ergonomic receptacles into service.

“The custodians that empty them says they are much less work to empty and very easy to keep clean as the inside of the units are completely accessible,” says Greg B., Custodian Milton Town School District.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2010 over 2.3 million people were employed in the Janitorial Industry. Janitors are ranked second in incidence rates of injuries and illnesses, of that 48.5 percent of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) were associated with of the back.
