Departments that have successfully implemented day cleaning programs also have increased satisfaction from both managers and custodial workers. For instance, complaints regarding cleaning frequency and effectiveness are reduced because managers and building occupants see the cleaning being done. Cleaners are also happier working during the day so they can have more family time at night.
Day cleaning also opens the industry up to a new workforce. People such as veterans, retirees and stay-at-home parents are more likely to become cleaners if the work fits within family obligations. The new potential workforce also includes people who rely on public transportation to get to and from work. In many cities, bus lines and subways stop around 11 p.m., making evening work difficult.
