The installation of green flooring – which includes wood, linoleum, cork, bamboo and rubber – is a growing commercial trend that goes hand in hand with the growth of green floor care chemicals on the market. Traditional cleaning chemicals are meant for traditional floors; green floors require cleansers that are effective yet not harmful to the materials. While green chemicals can be used effectively on most traditional flooring, it is best to use only green cleansers on green floors.

The key to maintaining green flooring is to match it with the right cleaning chemicals. Refer to flooring manufacturers for specific maintenance details, but in general, dry and damp mopping using a neutral solution is a good start. Biobased floor cleaners include citrus cleaners. Hydrogen peroxide cleaners can also be used, and are extremely effective while being environmentally safe.
