Different flooring types and facility types require different levels of maintenance. Some facilities, such as those with a lot of foot traffic, demand high-performance finishes that are used frequently to keep the surface looking glossy and scuff-free. Other facilities may not demand frequent finishing, appropriating the use of more durable finishes, built to handle traffic and heavy soil loads while delivering longer lasting shine and resistance.

While there are finishes that fit the specs of any program in regard to frequency and traffic, green floor finishes are becoming more widely available. They are third-party certified, and perform comparatively without zinc complexes or plasticizers suspercted of being endocrine disrupters.
