As the green movement continues to gain momentum and environmental awareness intensifies, the jan/san industry has experienced a substantial push towards certification. Starting in paper products and cleaning chemicals, certifications have expanded to include cleaning equipment and procedures.
The Carpet and Rug Institute has stepped up to create certification programs for carpet care equipment, including vacuums, spot removers, extraction equipment and all carpet machines in between. To meet their Seal of Approval standards, extractors must meet stringent standards in soil removal, water removal and texture retention. Vacuums must meet standards in soil removal, dust containment and carpet fiber retention. All products are subject to rigorous testing prior to reaching certification status.
Equipment that meets these stringent requirements has proven to be effective at cleaning, while minimizing the impact on the environment. In addition to longer lasting equipment and carpets, this guarantee — as well as the comfort of a third-party certification — provides peace of mind to cleaners.
