Large office areas, with multiple cubicles containing one or two small waste receptacles in each, makes trash pick-up time consuming and costly. For facilities that have a high volume of pick-ups, it is best suited for cleaning personnel to invest in equipment that helps reduce time and labor.
Dragging a heavy collection bag around from cubicle to cubicle is no longer acceptable for custodians today. Not only does lifting and carrying heavy amounts of trash cause physical strain on workers, but there’s also a risk of the bag tearing when dragging it across the floor – resulting in an even larger mess for custodians.
A large garbage barrel placed on a dolly is an appropriate option for collecting numerous smaller pickups in office settings. For facilities that have a lot of heavy trash pickups, janitor carts are useful because they make it easier for custodians to transport the bags.
When investing in equipment however, end users need to make sure their personnel will be comfortable using it. If a custodian has a problem with the collection equipment, he or she may decide to collect trash without it, resulting in lost time and labor.
