Vacuuming large spaces with upright or backpack vacuums can be a time-consuming and tiring task for cleaners. Instead, workers can use ride-on vacuums in long carpeted hallways and lobbies. These units feature cleaning widths up to 34 inches, allowing workers to clean spaces quicker by covering more ground. And without walking behind the machine and swinging a vacuum head, there is no worker fatigue.

Although there are benefits to this equipment, there are also safety concerns to be aware of. Operators need to be tall enough to be able to comfortably reach the pedals and see over the dashboard. And it is important that drivers be attentive at all times, especially if working around building occupants or other janitors.
