Cleaning towel and tissue dispensers isn’t a big chore, but it is something that should happen as part of routine restroom maintenance. In fact, dispensers should be treated like countertops, sinks and mirrors. The exteriors of the dispensers should be wiped down with a cloth and mild cleaner every time other surfaces in the restroom are cleaned. Towel dispensers that have levers should be disinfected with a contact sanitizer and the sensor eye on sensor-operated towel systems should be wiped daily with a non-acid restroom cleaner to ensure proper functionality.
Frequent cleaning is enough to keep dispensers sanitary on the outside, but in order to keep them performing at their prime, the insides of dispensers should also be cleaned periodically. It is recommended that before refilling a towel or tissue dispenser, any dust inside the container be removed to maximize efficiency.
