Restroom Equipment Maintenance

To ensure restroom cleaning equipment is functioning properly, regular maintenance is required. Restroom cleaning equipment is no different.

Manufacturers recommend custodial crews develop a checklist of maintenance duties to be conducted after every use. Completion of these tasks will ensure equipment is ready for operation when necessary.

First, empty, rinse and refill the water reservoir in the machine. Then clean and rinse any tools or extension hoses connected to the machine or used during cleaning. This will prevent the potential of cross-contamination. Finally, make sure the onboard batteries are charged for the next user.

Before putting equipment away, cleaners should also do a once-over visual check to make sure there is no additional debris on or around machine wheels and guarantee all necessary tools are in their rightful place.
