For those who don’t subcontract out window cleaning services, two options are available: low-rise and high-rise cleaning. High-rise structures are defined as those higher than two stories. Special liability and workers’ compensation insurance is required for these buildings.

The investment might be more intensive, especially in regard to training and equipment, but it can pay off for those committed to servicing high-rise customers. Because it is a specialty service, it can be a nice add-on for existing customers and it can also attract new customers who may need additional services. Window cleaners must be insured and bonded, and it’s a good idea to get certified by the International Window Cleaning Association, though that isn’t required.
