I recently returned from attending and presenting at The Cleaning Show in London. This is the largest industry event for the United Kingdom, attracting thousands of cleaning professionals and more than a hundred premier manufacturers from Europe. I was there to give an afternoon keynote presentation on “Five Trends Changing The Contract Cleaning Market.” (If you are curious, I identified robotics, the Internet of Things, new office layouts, escalating infections in commercial facilities and Millennials as the biggest issues.)
This was my first time at The Cleaning Show, and it was extremely worthwhile. I had a chance to see European product innovations, only some of which are available in the United States. I was also able to network with international building service contractors. It’s through opportunities like these that we can share different perspectives and ideas, as well as learn from each other and find new ways to solve our challenges. After all, as the cleaning industry becomes increasingly global, end users will be facing similar challenges throughout the world — a point I emphasized during my presentation.
BSCs should take advantage of any opportunities to attend trade shows and conferences. The knowledge you take away will be worth any costs accrued.
