When Trade Press Media Group (Contracting Profits’ parent company) announced Clean Buildings Expo last year, we didn’t know what to expect. We knew the market was ready for an end-user centric trade show, and that the East Coast was an underserved market. But still, would people come?
Turns out we had no reason to worry. The inaugural Clean Buildings Expo launched by Trade Press and ISSA, wrapped up in Baltimore in March to overwhelmingly positive results.
One highlight was also one of the most advantageous aspects of attending any industry event: networking. Building service contractors learned invaluable tips from their peers who have gone through similar experiences and growing pains.
For example, I heard an inspiring story from one of our Clean Buildings Expo presenters. During his session, he asked if this was anyone’s first industry event. When an attendee raised his hand, the person sitting next to him offered to walk him around the exhibit hall and “show him the ropes” of the cleaning industry. It was wonderful to hear a member of this industry looking out for another.
Clean Buildings Expo provided unique networking opportunities that no other show has. In addition to access to other BSCs, the co-location with Trade Press’ NFMT — a conference for facility executives — allowed opportunities to network with potential customers.
With this co-location, attendees of Clean Buildings Expo had access to the NFMT show floor, and at the end of the first day, a networking party brought the two event audiences together. These were fantastic opportunities for BSCs to gain new client prospects, as well as learn how to improve customer relations (or vice versa).
Clean Buildings Expo returns to Baltimore next year, March 17-18. I hope to see you there.
