From Friday, April 25, through Saturday, April 28, building service contractors from around the country (and world) will convene at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Fla., for the 2008 Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) Annual Convention and Trade Show. The convention features educational and networking opportunities as well as a chance to see the latest product innovations on the trade show floor.
Each day of the show has a general session and on Monday there are three. These sessions will help to educate BSCs on significant industry trends as well as excite and motivate attendees. Saturday’s session is the trade show keynote featuring Bill George, author of “True North: Discover Your Authentic Leadership.” George will discuss how BSCs can become better leaders in their organizations and can contribute to the success of their companies.
During Sunday’s general session, Ian Greig of the Daniels Associates Inc. will lead a customer panel discussing trends such as day cleaning and expanding services. Monday’s multiple sessions include a seminar on government affairs, a roundtable with top CEOs and “The Current State of Green Cleaning,” featuring Steve Ashkin, a leading green industry expert and Contracting Profits columnist.
BSCs will also have plenty of other opportunities to learn about important issues facing the industry during the convention’s concurrent sessions. These seminars take place from Saturday to Monday and feature a variety of topics including green, safety, security services, succession planning and employee relations, among others. As in years past, the show also offers day-long bidding and estimating, and supervision seminars.
Based on last year’s success, the CEO Summit is returning in 2008. This special seminar requires an advance ticket purchase. The supplemental educational opportunity is on Friday (before the rest of the show starts) and will be lead by keynote speaker, Bill George. CEOs will discuss leadership in a small-group setting creating an intimate learning experience.
BSCs can continue their networking experiences on the trade show floor Saturday and Sunday. Here they can see demonstrations of new products and rub elbows with BSCs from across the globe. Saturday night’s “Happy Hour on the Trade Show Floor” will allow BSCs to experience the industry in a relaxed setting.
