BSCAI Building Service Employee of the Year Award

The Building Service Employee of the Year Award is given to a building service contractor employee who possesses the traits found in elite workers. These traits, according to BSCAI, include excellent job performance, civic involvement and care for others. The winner of this award receives round-trip coach airfare to the Contracting Success Conference, $1,000, a medallion and a plaque.

Marlene Lash of Supreme Maintenance Organization was named the 2019 Building Service Employee of the Year Award winner following a close vote.

Lash has worked at the Greensboro, North Carolina-based building service contractor for 24 years. She spent many of those years balancing her part-time position at Supreme Maintenance Organization with her career in the textile industry, which she is now retired from after 41 years.

To Supreme Maintenance Organization management and employees, the committee's decision to select Lash as an award winner comes as no surprise.

"Marlene lives life with passion and is dedicated to making our world a better place through her efforts and relationships at work, as well as her many hours volunteering in her community," says company President David Murphy. "Those who know her are very fortunate because Marlene's love and compassion for others is evident in her daily work."

Supreme Maintenance Organization is "blessed" to have Lash as both a worker and a representative of the business, says Gary Collins, the company's vice president of operations.

"Marlene almost never misses work and delivers excellent service with a smile," says Collins. "Her customers treat her like family because of the love, care and concern that she puts into everything she does."
