Spotlight Sessions

It wouldn’t be ISSA North America without a loaded lineup of keynote speakers ready to share lessons and best practices. Those partaking in the education sessions on Monday, Oct. 10, should be sure to check out the Lunch & Learn Spotlight, in which keynote speaker Derreck Kayongo will discuss how discrimination in the workplace can impact overall culture, morale and a company’s bottom line, while providing tips for checking unconscious biases.

Next on the docket is Bill Rancic, an entrepreneur who rose to prominence as the first Apprentice winner on NBC. From 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Rancic will share some of the best leadership lessons he’s learned traveling the world, and the mindset needed to overcome inevitable challenges as a manager.

Then on Wednesday morning, Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Sarah Moshman will dissect the importance of storytelling and how it can be used to inspire others.

Commemorating Cleaning

With all the networking events, exhibits, keynotes and education on-hand, it’s easy for attendees to lose track of other memorable show experiences. Chief among them are the annual award ceremonies honoring key game-changers in the industry. On Tuesday from 5:15-7:00 p.m., the ISSA Hygeia Networking Event (separate registration required) will recognize the cleaning industry’s most influential women. Notable awards include the “Member of the Year”, “Company of the Year”, and the “Rising Star of the Year”.

Then on Thursday, capping off the show is the 2022 ISSA Innovation Award ceremony, at the Innovation Showcase (booth #4206) at 1:00 p.m. Manufacturers have put in their nominations for consideration in four categories: Innovation of the Year; Industry Choice; Innovation Honorees; and the newly introduced Environment and Sustainability Award.

Voting for the awards closes on Tuesday, Oct 11, at 5:00 p.m., Central. Ahead of time, voters can cast their vote on the ISSA North America Show website, and check out the nominations themselves at the Innovation Showcase booth throughout the week.

As many learned over a tumultuous 2020 and part of 2021, the value of in-person interactions for networking and learning new skills can’t be quantified when it comes to ingratiating oneself into the commercial cleaning community. It’s time to once again take in all ISSA North America 2022 — and the city of Chicago — has to offer.

James DeGraff joined Trade Press Media Group in 2019 as an associate editor. He creates and oversees content for Sanitary Maintenance, Facility Cleaning Decisions and Contracting Profits magazines, as well as CleanLink.com.
