As a voice for the industry, I look for stories of building service contractors who impact today’s cleaning industry in various ways. In the years I’ve been with Contracting Profits, I’ve shared with you the story of BSCs trying to launch the first associate degree for cleaning professionals at Illinois Central College; I also reported from the frontlines of the NISH program in my home state of Wisconsin, to name a couple examples.
This month, our cover story shares the tale of two New Orleans BSCs and their experiences after Hurricane Katrina — two contractors nearly wiped out by the storm, yet still able to ultimately persevere and rebuild their businesses. Hearing their words and seeing their pictures brought me closer to the destruction of New Orleans, and closer to the determination of its citizens, than any of the news coverage I watched or read following the storm last year.
Next month, Contracting Profits will be attending the ISSA/INTERCLEAN® trade show and convention in Chicago. If you have an industry-relevant story to tell, or know a colleague who does, please stop by Booth 524 and share. If you can’t make the show, feel free to drop me an e-mail.
