Just a few years ago, it was pretty novel to walk into a restroom and see a touch-free towel dispenser or touch-free faucet. These days, touch-free fixtures are all but expected.
I was recently speaking with a jan/san distributor and we both agreed that the next “expected” product is going to be hand sanitizer. Americans are certainly more germ conscious these days and this year’s frequent news reports on MRSA proved that. Many people, including me, want to protect themselves from cross-contamination anytime, anywhere. When I go to a doctor’s office, the first thing I do is use the hand sanitizer. Before I get my cart at the grocery store, I wipe off the handle with a sanitizing wipe.
Building service contractors should take the proactive approach and sell customers on installing and servicing hand sanitizer dispensers (or providing individual bottles), if customers don’t already have some in their facility. In commercial offices, hand sanitizers placed in breakrooms or shared spaces where multiple employees use the same computer or phone can greatly reduce the spread of germs, including cold and flu viruses.
Next time you talk with your distributor, ask about his or her hand sanitizing options. Like every product in this market, sanitizers have evolved and are available in a variety of types and dispensers.
