Almost exactly two years ago, I was preparing for my annual trek to one of the industry's largest gatherings. It had become a familiar trip — my 15th as the editor of this publication — and I was looking forward to seeing old friends, making new connections and identifying industry trends.

Had I known then that the world would change shortly after I returned home, and it would be two years before I'd be able to connect in person with the industry once again, I might have done a few things differently. But hindsight is 20/20 and it's time to look forward, not back.

After two years of working from home and seeing readers only through virtual meetings, I'm excited to get back out to industry events once again. My team and I are ready to hit the ground running at the ISSA Show in Las Vegas this November.

As outlined in our coverage of the event, attendees to this year's show have a lot to look forward to. It all starts with a full educational lineup where managers can choose from a number of featured tracks. You'll find me bouncing between the healthcare and hospitality sessions organized by IEHA, and the K-12 and colleges/university offerings from my friends at Healthy Green Schools & Colleges (I'm anxious to get an update about their Healthy Green Schools Standard).

Of course, the show floor opens on day two, Nov. 16. With 500 exhibitors expected, and even more education and keynote presentations, I'll have my comfy shoes on so nothing slows me down from seeing as much as I possibly can.

Top it all off with various welcome receptions, product innovation recognition, the Hygieia Awards and countless opportunities to network with peers from every facet of the industry. There will be little downtime as I am determined to make the most of this opportunity.

For those of you who are planning to attend, look for me. We'll have a booth (W-4933) and I encourage you to stop by. If I'm not there and you see me out in the wild, feel free to flag me down and introduce yourself.
