Last month, I had the honor of attending the NFMT conference in Baltimore. For four days, I lead education sessions, visited with manufacturers and reconnected with a number of readers.

I also had the great opportunity of visiting one reader in the area, who was kind enough to show me the ins and outs of his program first hand.

Jobie Waldt, stadium operations manager at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens, took the time to sit down with me to discuss everything from restrooms and recycling to equipment and managing special events.

What I quickly learned was that this was much more than a football stadium. With a growing interest in private events, Waldt and his team are prepared to service everything from business meetings for as few as 12 people, to proms and weddings for 400. And don’t forget about the more than 71,000 fans that flock to the stadium to watch the Ravens play.

In fact, my visit fell just days before a monster truck rally and 24-hours after the completion of the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament. Expecting to see some clean-up first hand, I was instead impressed to find that the stadium actually looked as if no one had stepped foot in it since January.

This quick turnaround and attention to detail is just one thing that Waldt and his team does right. Add that to a structured department and great working relationships and you have a recipe for success.

A video summarizing my visit will be available at www.CleanLink.com/Video in late April. Along with his team, Waldt offered a lot of great information and I am excited to profile the stadium and share what I learned.
