Green Clean Schools Forum Seminars

The Green Clean Schools Forum is a two-day event presented by Healthy Schools Campaign and ISSA. Part of the event includes a series of seminars designed specifically for K-12 and higher education cleaning professionals that will run throughout the day on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Topics include ways to create an assessment program, product selection, certification programs and training.

Additional ISSA seminars will focus on green cleaning in schools on Wednesday, Oct. 26, and Thursday, Oct. 27.


TUESDAY, OCT. 25


9 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Green Cleaning In Schools: Leading The Way For Children’s Health
Speakers: Mark Bishop and Rochelle Davis

Five steps to green cleaning in schools are featured during this seminar. Attendees also learn the advantages of green cleaning in school buildings.

10:15 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Green Cleaning In Schools: Taking Stock, Assessing Your Program
Speaker: Jodi Krause

This seminar is based on Step 1 of the 5 steps to Green Cleaning in Schools. It provides information to conduct an assessment and make data-driven decisions in order to improve green cleaning.

Green Cleaning In Schools: Learning From The Leaders
Speaker: Kimberly Thomas

School facility managers talk about how they developed and created assessments to help improve their cleaning programs.

1:15 p.m. – 2 p.m.
Green Cleaning In Schools: Green Products, Equipment and Supplies. How Do You Choose?
Speaker: Roger McFadden

Based on Steps 2 and 3 of the 5 Steps to Green Cleaning in Schools, attendees glean information on the industry shift toward sustainability, advantages and limitations of certification programs, and how to pick green cleaning products.

Green Cleaning In Schools: Learning From The Leaders
Speakers: Mervin Brewer and Sawna Cragun

FLASH SESSION: Green Cleaning In Schools: Supporting A Well-Trained And Engaged Workforce
Speaker: Lucas Wendt

Attendees gain knowledge of Step 4 of the 5 Steps to Green Cleaning in Schools that includes strategies to organize training and universal principles that any cleaning professional who manages should know.

Green Cleaning In Schools: Engaging The Whole School
Speaker: Gene Woodward

Based on Step 5 of the 5 Steps to Green Cleaning in Schools, this session highlights strategies to engage school administrators, teachers and parents in a green cleaning program.

Speakers: Mike Jones and Pat Pizzo

Members of Healthy Schools Campaign’s Leadership Council talk about how they make purchasing decisions for their school districts. They share insights about which factors such as price, quality and service impact their decisions.
