2009 ISSA/INTERCLEAN Show Guide

Advice From An Idea Man

This year’s ISSA/INTERCLEAN® show is all about finding bright ideas to change your business. So who better to give the keynote address than Donny Deutsch, the host of the CNBC talk show, “The Big Idea?” During his keynote address on Thursday, Oct. 8, the legendary ad man and TV personality will explain why now is the best time to unleash your best ideas on the cleaning industry.

For the past four years Deutsch has hosted “The Big Idea,” interviewing budding entrepreneurs, billionaires and everyone in between. Some notable guests include CEO of Enterprise Rent-A-Car Andy Taylor, music mogul Sean Combs, Food Network star Paula Deen and Cynthia Good, founder of PINK magazine.

As chairman of New York-based Deutsch Inc., Deutsch used his “leaner, meaner, faster, smarter” philosophy to turn a small advertising company into one of the Top 10 advertising agencies in the United States. He has created winning ad campaigns for prestigious clients including Johnson & Johnson, Anheuser-Busch InBev, DIRECTV, Kodak and IKEA. The agency was also prominently featured on Donald Trump’s hit television show “The Apprentice.”

Deutsch is the managing partner of Deutsch Open City, an independent production company and was a lead member of the Bill Clinton/Al Gore communications team in 1992. Deutsch is a member of the board of directors for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and also serves on the executive committee of University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy & Practice.

He is also the author of two business motivation books, “Often Wrong, Never in Doubt,” and the recent “The Big Idea: How to Make Your Entrepreneurial Dreams Come True from the Aha Moment to Your First Million.” Distributors may want to read the latter book if the recession has them questioning if they should stick it out or close their doors. The motivational book will serve as a good reminder as to why they went into business for themselves in the first place.

The keynote speech will begin at 8:30 a.m.
