2010 ISSA/INTERCLEAN Show Guide

Innovations Reflect The Industry

Jan/san distributors know what kinds of products their customers need: those that clean faster, help stave off infections and preserve the environment. Looking at the nearly 50 Innovation Award nominees, distributors should have no problem identifying new solutions for building service contractors and in-house service professionals.

The recession has forced building owners and facility managers to slash cleaning budgets. As a result, end users must clean the same amount of space in less time and less often. Machines that automate cleaning processes (especially in the tightest of spaces), restroom dispensers that accept more than one type of product and floors that dry faster or stay clean longer will all speed up cleaning operations.

Last year during ISSA/INTERCLEAN, the industry was buzzing about H1N1. This year, a new superbug, NDM-1, has already landed in the United States so infection control measures should still be top-of-mind. Disinfectant wipes, ionized water and antibacterial towels will help keep building occupants healthy. Also, new options for towel, soap and hand sanitizer dispensers ensure that product can be placed wherever needed, so occupants can clean their hands.

And of course green and sustainability are still important to end users. Products that are more durable, use less packaging, can be returned to the manufacturer for disposal, and are green certified will help customers achieve their green goals.

These are just some of examples of products marked as "innovations." When walking the show floor, attendees are bound to find other products that meet customers' needs from the 650 manufacturers. But distributors shouldn't worry if they don't make it to each and every booth. Sanitary Maintenance will be featuring a special ISSA/INTERCLEAN product recap in its November/December issue.
