Universities across the country have begun competing in their own March Madness tournament to determine which one has the best undergraduate programs in environmental studies and sustainability.

The tournament will run concurrently with the NCAA college basketball championship tournament and official began on Monday with the announcement of the "Sustainable 16," the top 16 colleges that will compete for the title of top environmental school in the U.S. On Monday, March 26, the schools will be narrowed down to the "Environmental 8," followed by the "Final 4," which will be announced on March 30. The winning school will be named on April 2.
