The Healthy Facilities Institute (HFI) and Process Cleaning for Healthy Schools (PC4HS) are supporting the school handwashing campaign of the American Cleaning Institute (ACI). The School Network for Absenteeism Prevention (SNAP) is designed to help keep students in school and learning by improving overall health through promoting clean hands. "Healthy Schools, Healthy People - It's a SNAP" is a joint initiative of ACI and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
 
HFI and PC4HS will help schools get onboard with handwashing programs recommended by health experts, promoting the initiative by encouraging signs in restrooms, and press releases describing the benefits and rewards.
 
“In this time of influenza and other contagious disease outbreaks, it is vital that we frequently wash our hands, and we encourage schools to get involved with this program to take safety to a higher level,” said Allen Rathey, founder and president of HFI. “We will be promoting ACI handwashing resources, including a link to the SNAP 2013 Application, which schools can download, fill out and be entered into a ‘healthy’ competition with winners to be announced in 2014.”
 
“Process Cleaning for Healthy Schools (PC4HS) is strongly encouraging the support of this program, asking schools implementing a PC4HS program to use signs in restrooms asking students, ‘Have you done number 3?’ Number 3, of course, is washing your hands after doing Numbers 1 or 2,” said Rex Morrison, founder and president of PC4HS. “By asking about Number 3,  we believe it’s a SNAP to improve student handwashing, reduce absenteeism, and help the school stay healthier.”
