Locating restrooms in downtown Montreal will get easier in 2016, after the city installs a dozen self-cleaning public toilets. According to reports from CBCNews, the program was shelved last year due to lack of funding, but now a $1 million budget has been outlined for the project over the next three years. Each toilet will cost an estimated $300,000.

Several Canadian cities — Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary — have had self-cleaning public toilets for years. Reports say that the public restrooms have been a positive fixture. There have been no reported security issues and there is minimal labor required.
