Joseph Tabak of Jersey Paper Plus in Edison, NJ was honored at the 2016 Supply Line trade show with the 7 th NJSSA Bob Stader Award on May 3, 2016 at Harrah’s Resort, Atlantic City, NJ.

Joe Tabak began working in the jan-san industry when he returned from the army in 1957. He joined his father’s growing company, Jersey Paper, a distributor of paper and plastic disposable products and rose to the position of president in 1972. In 1981, the company was acquired by Bunzl PC and Joe became president of the eastern division of Bunzl. Joe soon found he wanted to rebuild the Jersey Paper brand, and he and his son Steven formed JPC Enterprises to once again distribute food service and paper supplies under the name of the Jersey Paper Company.

Though now retired, Joe remains active in numerous community and charitable activities, including serving as chair of St. Peter’s Hospital and chair of the McCarrick Care Center. He received the State of Israel Peace Medal and the Diocese of Metuchen’s (NJ) Knight of St. Sylvester Award.

“We are deeply honored to present this award to Joe as he exemplifies the standards of great ethical and leadership performance in our industry,” said Dave Herman, NJSSA President.

This is the 7th Bob Stader Lifetime Achievement Award to be presented. In 2004, Russ Leahy was awarded the first Bob Stader Award and Norman Leibowitz of Norshel Industries was recognized in 2006. In 2008, Hank Josephs of Spruce Industries was selected to receive the award, and in 2010, Barbara Casse-Bender received the award. The 2012 recipient was Stan Reichel of Banner Chemical, and the 2014 recipient was Jon Scoles of Scoles Floorshine, former president of ISSA. The recipient is selected biannually by the NJSSA Board of Trustees and the award is named in memory of Bob Stader, a founding member of NJSSA and industry leader.
