A cleaning contractor died after falling from the roof of the NRG Indian River Power Plant in Dagsboro, Delaware this week, according to an article on the DelMatve website. A spokesperson for NRG Energy, said the man was not an employee, but a contractor for the power plant.
Joanna Hawkins, deputy regional director for the U.S. Labor Department, said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate the worker fatality at the power plant.
"The employer under investigation is MPW Industrial Services Inc., an industrial cleaning contractor working for NRG Indian River to clean the fly ash silo," Hawkins said in the article.
In the last five years, OSHA investigated eight cases with MPW, resulting in two violations. None of the cases occurred in Delaware. OSHA has six months to complete its investigation.
MPW Industrial Services deals in industrial cleaning, water purification, facility management, environmental management and container management services.
