A former Alabama janitorial company recently agreed to pay a former employee $70,000 to settle a federal lawsuit, according to an article on the AL.com website.
According to the suit, Birmingham-based Rite Way Services, Inc. terminated an employee in retaliation for participating in an internal investigation concerning a co-worker's sexual harassment complaint.
The employee made a statement to supervisors who were investigating the complaint in August 2011.
The EEOC said Rite Way gave the employee several written warnings about false performance issues soon the statement. The employee was then fired based on the inaccurate accusations, the EEOC said.
