Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) has wrapped up the 2017 Contracting Success Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year’s Contracting Success Conference took place September 13-15 and was an incredible success with over 550 attendees.
This year’s event was the first Contracting Success Conference, as previously the event was known as the Annual Convention. BSCAI changed the name of the event to better speak to the goals and values of BSCAI as an organization, and to drive home their core focus on the success of building service contractors.
During general sessions, attendees learned how to bring together their team members unique skill sets to drive the future and heard from fellow BSCs on ways to overcome challenges in their careers and discovered new ways to approach losses or setbacks within their business. They also attended breakout sessions, presented by peers that focused on learning across six major tracks – finance, management, human resources, operations, sales, and marketing and technology.
In addition to educational offerings, attendees enjoyed interacting with suppliers and connecting with fellow BSCs during networking events and receptions.
During the event, BSCAI announced the winners of the CLEAN Awards, a program focused on recognizing excellence within the building service contractors’ community. This year’s winners included:
• James E. Purcell Leadership Award – Paul Greenland, CBSE
• Walter L. Cook Distinguished Service Award – Curtis McLemore
• Arthur C. Barraclough Company Community Service Award –Marsden Holding, LLC
• New Member of the Year Award – B&T Contractors, Inc.

• Building Service Employee of the Year Award – Christine Bragg, FBG Service Corporation
• Industry Service Award – National Service Alliance
“This year’s event was phenomenal,” said Jim Harris Jr., CBSE, 2017 Contracting Success Conference chair. “Every attendee left with at least one new idea or actionable item that they could immediately implement to help drive the success of their business.”
