It's like Anthony Micheal Wesley is getting called up from the minors to the big leagues when the first day of school roles around each year. That’s because a new year presents a new challenge for the veteran custodian.
Wesley has been cleaning Henderson High School in West Chester, Pennsylvania and its facilities for 38 years, reports Daily Local News. Interestingly, he got his start not too long after graduating in the school in 1980.
Like most public school custodians, Wesley keeps busy over the summer months by performing deep cleans throughout the school. He also carries out tougher jobs that would be difficult to undertake when school is in session.
It’s these actions among many— the cleaning for months when nobody is watching — that make custodians an unsung hero. As Cintas recently argued students and faculty would do well to thank their janitorial staff upon their return.
