Every business needs to be cleaned, and someone has to do that work. Considering this, it’s no big surprise that janitor was listed among the fastest growing professions in America by one metric.
MoneyWise compiled a list of the 15 fastest growing professions in America using data gathered from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Coming in at sixth on the list was “janitors and building cleaners.”
The U.S. Bureau Of Labor Statistics projects that there will be a whopping 236,500 more janitorial jobs in the United States by 2026. This growth is largely due to the fact hat many more companies are projected to outsource their cleaning services over the coming years, according to the story.
The only five professions projected to seek higher growth are careers that have been expected to be booming for sometime. Software developers for apps was the profession to just beat out janitor on the list with 255,400 more jobs projected by 2026. Higher on the list were the professions of home health aide, registered nurse, food and beverage service worker, and personal care aide.
Personal care aide, which is topped the list with 777,600 more jobs projected by 2026, is expected to boom due to the aging of baby boomers and that generation’s desire to live their last years outside of nursing homes.
