Lawmakers in Michigan are mulling over “Liam’s Law,” a bill that would require public restrooms to be more inclusive for people with disabilities.

The Americans with Disabilities Act only requires that space be provided for a wheelchair to enter a public restroom. If approved, Liam’s Law would require businesses in Michigan like movie theaters, sport arenas and airports to offer adult-sized changing tables, reports WNEM.com.

Supporters of the bill say the changing tables would help special needs children and adults, as well as people who suffer from dementia.

A similar fight was brought to light earlier this month when it was reported that a Wisconsin mother is trying to push legislation that would require more adult changing stations in the Badger State. The woman often struggles to find adult changing stations when out in public with her 20-year-old son who lives with cerebral palsy.
