Baby changing stations are about to become a lot more popular in the Lone Star State after San Antonio's city council unanimously approved an ordinance that requires the tables in both men's and women's restrooms.
The new ordinance requires all new and existing buildings with public restrooms to provide a table that can be used to change the diaper of a child weighing up to 50 pounds, reports San Antonio Express-News. Businesses impacted by the change include hospitals, hotels, movie theaters, shopping malls, stores and restaurants.
Some businesses can appeal the ordinance because adding a changing station would put the space they make available in restrooms below the minimum required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
