Pennslyvania Sets Big Building Cleaning Standards During Outbreak

Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine has mandated buildings larger than 50,000 square feet be routinely cleaned and disinfected according to the guidelines laid out by by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Warehouses, factories, offices, airports, government facilities, hotels, colleges and universities, grocery stores and residential buildings of this size must receive these treatments if they remain open during the COVID-19 shutdown, reports AP News.

The orders require high-touch surfaces  to be consistently cleaned and disinfected. It also requires that owners of these facilities keep enough people employed to maintain the proper level of cleanliness. Buildings where security teams were operating must keep these individuals working so that they can enforce social distancing guidelines.

Like many states, Pennsylvania has placed its residents under stay-at-home orders, which can only be broke to retrieve food or medical treatment, exercise or work.
