Disposable urinals could be one of the coolest trends of the hot summer thanks in part to fears caused by COVID-19.

Research from e-commerce analytics firm, Profitero, found that searches for disposable urinal bags have skyrocketed on Amazon.com between May 2 and June 6, reports Crain’s Chicago Business. Searches for one popular brand in particular, Travel John, grew by a multiple of five in that span of just over a month.

Urinal bags function by using chemicals to turn the urine put in them to an odorless solid. Once made into a solid, the urine and the bag can be thrown away into the trash. While the traditional urinal is built for the use of men, some of these bags can be used by women, too.

Urinal bags are are probably drawing interest because the public is slowly venturing outside for the first time since mid-March lockdowns, but are still encountering shutdown public restrooms. Even when restrooms are open, some skittish people are afraid to use them because of the implication that they could come into contact with dangerous germs.

Travel John tells Crain’s Chicago Business that it is seeing a massive increase in sales and is working hard just to keep up with demand. Sales for disposable urinal bags could also increase as the summer road trip and camping seasons get underway.
