Hill & Markes has achieved Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR accreditation, the company announced in a press release. Under the guidance of GBAC, a Division of ISSA, Hill & Markes has implemented the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention in its facility.
GBAC STAR helps organizations establish protocols and procedures, offers expert-led training and assesses a facility’s readiness for biorisk situations. The program verifies that Hill & Markes implements best practices to prepare for, respond to and recover from outbreaks and pandemics. Hill & Markes has serviced and consulted schools, offices, and healthcare facilities on proper cleaning and disinfection methods to maintain healthy and safe environments. The family-owned wholesale distributor can help other businesses achieve the GBAC STAR gold standard, too.
“There is no greater priority to Hill & Markes than keeping our team safe. GBAC STAR is one critical step to ensuring proper process, procedures, and training around cleaning and disinfection at our facility,” said Jason Packer, CEO of Hill & Markes. “GBAC STAR does an excellent job on prevention and protection methods as it relates to COVID-19, seasonal flu and cold, and any other transmitted illnesses. Keeping our team healthy is our mission at Hill & Markes.”
To achieve GBAC STAR accreditation, Hill & Markes was required to demonstrate compliance with the program’s 20 core elements, which range from standard operating procedures and risk assessment strategies to personal protective equipment and emergency preparedness and response measures.
“GBAC STAR accreditation empowers facility owners and managers to assure workers, customers and key stakeholders that they have proven systems in place to maintain clean and healthy environments,” said GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger. “By taking this important step to pursue GBAC STAR, Hill & Markes has received third-party validation that it follows strict protocols for biorisk situations, thereby demonstrating its preparedness and commitment to operating safely.”
