A stimulus plan proposed by President-Elect Joe Biden would include $130 billion that would be used to help rehabilitate pubic school systems in response to the damage done by the COVID-19 pandemic, reports U.S. News & World Report. 

The Biden Administration's intention is to have the billions in proposed funding help remedy issues that have plagued public schools and higher education since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the report, schools could use the funding for measures that would reduce class sizes and make social distancing easier. Funds could also lead to improvements in ventilation, as well as the hiring of staff that help to prevent sickness, such as custodians and nurses.

Some of the funding would also be used to address issues with student mental health, which has also been hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The plan could also involve given $35 million to the High Education Emergency Relief Fund. Additions to that fund should help elevate the burdensome costs of public health protocols and distance learning efforts. It would also be used to provide needed financial assistance for students who need the help.
