The GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation Program from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, recently announced that American Airlines is the first airline to achieve accreditation for its entire aircraft fleet and Admirals Club lounges. Additionally, 345 more facilities have recently earned accreditation, including locations across Arlington, Texas; the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in Saint Paul, Minnesota; NHL and NBA arenas; Hyatt hotel locations; convention centers; and more.
“With American Airlines now fully accredited, travelers and airline employees can rest assured that the right protocols are being followed to keep these aircraft and airport lounges clean and safe," said GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger. “We are proud to have their support in elevating the importance of cleanliness worldwide, and to see so many other organizations committed to this process.”
Facilities of all types and sizes are eligible to participate in the GBAC STAR accreditation program. Accredited facilities follow the proper protocols for cleaning and disinfection, implement thorough training for chemicals, equipment, and procedures, and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
