The expansion of eligibility means that any janitor, security guard or food service employee living or working in the city can receive the vaccine, regardless of age. Detroit received 15,000 doses of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday. The capacity for the TCF Center (a convention center where the vaccine is being administered) has been expanded.

According to the city's statement to the press, Duggan included security guards and janitors to list of people who can receive the vaccines because their work can put them in contact with large number of citizens on a daily basis.

Detroit had initially limited COVID-19 vaccinations to city city residents ages 75 and older.
