American Hand Sanitizer Recalled For Looking Like Water Bottles

A brand of hand sanitizer made in North Carolina has been recalled because its packaging looks too similar to water bottles, reports Fox Business.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says the 9.6-fluid ounce bottles that PNHC, LLC's Heal the World hand sanitizer is packaged in could be mistaken for a 9.6-ounce water bottle.

The recall is just the latest in a list of many the FDA has encouraged during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the use of hand sanitizer has grown over the past year, so has the production of hand sanitizer. The hand sanitizers being made are being placed in all sorts of bottles, some of which look like food or drink.

In late November 2020, the FDA's list of hand sanitizer that had been recalled during the pandemic exceeded more than 200. That's quite the figure considering the list was made just five months prior. As of Tuesday, the list stood at 231 entries.
