Specialty chemical and equipment manufacturer Betco Corporation announced that it has entered into a binding acquisition agreement for key environmental management intellectual property and clients from BiOWiSH Technologies, Inc., serving the hydrocarbon remediation, odor control, waste management, surface and wastewater treatment industries. This acquisition, pending customary closing conditions and adjustments, marks Betco’s third in the bioaugmentation space under its wholly owned subsidiary, EnviroZyme.

As a world leader in microbial biotechnology, EnviroZyme specializes in end-to-end manufacturing of sustainable solutions for diverse environmental, water, and waste treatment applications. Its ability to solve complex bioaugmentation challenges is rooted in advanced capabilities that include custom fermentation, formulation, blending, and packaging.

Headquartered in Cincinnati, BiOWiSH is a global biotechnology company renowned for its research, development, and marketing of innovative solutions tailored for the agriculture, aquaculture, and environmental management industries. By collaborating with leading corporations and research institutions, the company has been able to explore and develop a wide range of commercial uses for its proprietary technology.

“BiOWiSH’s robust portfolio of environmental management customers perfectly aligns with our existing business,” says Toby Jercovich, chief financial officer of Betco Corporation. “This strategic move will drive growth for decades to come, and we look forward to building upon the success that BiOWiSH and its customers have already established.”

“The sale of our environmental management portfolio marks a significant milestone in our strategy to focus on agriculture, where we are leading the transition from commodity fertilizers to biologically enhanced efficiency fertilizers,” says Rod Vautier, president of BiOWiSH. “This solidifies our dedication to tackling the global food crisis by supporting sustainable agriculture practices that improve both economics and productivity while preserving the integrity of our ecosystems.”

The BiOWiSH integration also signals Betco’s commitment to building on EnviroZyme’s position as the top provider of bioaugmented solutions for water resource recovery worldwide. With the combined entity’s expanded geographical reach and product range, EnviroZyme is poised to quickly capture larger market share in the booming water and environmental technologies field.

The purchase will be fully funded at the targeted close date during the fourth quarter of 2024. Through additional acquisitions and organic growth, Betco Corporation is well positioned to further enhance its capabilities and presence in crucial markets.
