The IFMA Foundation is pleased to announce that two additional schools have been awarded Recognized Degree Program status. Pratt Institute of Manhattan, N.Y., and NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences of the Netherlands join nine other prestigious universities as Recognized Degree Programs, IFMA Foundation-approved providers of quality facility management degrees.

“We’re excited to have two institutions of this caliber joining the existing Recognized Degree Programs,” said Kathy O. Roper, CFM, CFMJ, IFMA Fellow and chair of the Committee on Academic Affairs. “These schools have taken the steps necessary to demonstrate their excellence in facility management education. We hope they can mentor other schools as we grow the Recognized Degree Programs internationally to provide for the facility management leaders of the future.”

Developed in 1996, Recognized Degree Programs provide the most comprehensive facility management degrees available through adherence to a broad range of industry educational standards. Recognized schools must provide instruction in the nine core competency areas identified by IFMA that define the professional practice of facility management.

The Committee on Academic Affairs, consisting of representatives from each of the recognized schools, reviews applications from schools seeking recognition and determines which institutions meet Recognized Degree Program standards. The IFMA Foundation will soon appoint a director of academic affairs in support of the Recognized Degree Programs.
