Three men pose with an award at ceremony

The Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) honored Service by Medallion with the 2019 Cleaning for Health Award presented by ProTeam. The award recognizes a BSCAI building service contractor with a cleaning for health program that includes policies, procedures, and training that emphasize the health of building occupants and staff.

Service by Medallion was selected for the award by an independent panel of industry experts.

“We warmly congratulate Service by Medallion for earning this recognition,” says ProTeam national sales manager Jeff Stone. “Through their efficient and thoughtful practices, they set an example for other BSCs who want to prioritize health and sustainability in their cleaning.”

Recently named among the Top Workplaces 2019 by Bay Area News Group, Service by Medallion has won many awards for their sustainability, conservation, and industry leadership. They are a Green Business Certified with Honors by Cleaning Industry Management Standards-Green Building (CIMS-GB), a certification from the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA).

Service by Medallion chooses cleaning tools and techniques that remove unwanted matter from the environment while minimizing waste, like high-quality microfiber, advanced filtration backpack vacuums, and on-site generated cleaning solutions. They were also one of the first companies to invest in a fleet of hybrid vehicles a decade ago.

“We want to create a space where people want to come to work because we do things differently than everyone else. We care about our planet and our community,” says Elias Nacif, executive vice president and chairman of Medallion’s Green Team. “Our commitment to health and the environment sets us apart from the competition and attracts customers who share our values and are in pursuit of a more sustainable building operations program.”

Cleaning for health is defined as a cleaning regimen that helps dramatically reduce the levels of allergens and asthma triggers in the indoor environment. The purpose is to create indoor environments where building occupants feel better and can be more productive.
