Victory Innovations and Protexus Electrostatic Sprayers have been recalled because their batteries can cause a fire hazard. According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the sprayers have a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack, which can overheat and melt, potentially resulting in a fire or explosion.
Victory Innovations previously received 37 reports of the electrostatic sprayers overheating. No injuries were reported.
(UPDATE: This recall was initiated in early 2021 and Victory Innovations has been quick to resolve inquiries.)
Consumers who were impacted stopped using the recalled sprayers, removed the battery pack and disposed of them in accordance with local laws for disposal of lithium-ion batteries. If you still have not done so, please contact Victory Innovations for a free replacement battery pack, including shipping.
The recall impacted an estimated 405,000 product purchases in the United States, as well as another 27,000 in Canada.
