ABCO announced its Honduras plant’s collaboration with a local composting facility, Hagamos Composta. This partnership is designed to tackle the issue of food waste sent to landfills by converting it into organic fertilizer that replenishes the environment.
“We’re thrilled to partner with a composting facility in Honduras,” says Carlos Albir, Jr., vice president of Operations at ABCO. “This partnership underscores our commitment to sustainability and our belief in the power of collective action to address environmental challenges.”
ABCO has long demonstrated its commitment to sustainability through its corporate social responsibility initiatives (CSR). It has preserved 93 percent of its food waste in addition to 10 million pounds of garment scrap, with only 7 percent ending up in landfills yearly. These efforts have earned ABCO third-party certifications such as GreenSeal and UL Solutions based on manufacturing innovative, quality and sustainable cleaning solutions. This offers further authenticity behind ABCO’s environmental claims, providing customers with confidence in their purchasing.
“By diverting food waste from landfills, we actively contribute to creating a healthier environment for current and future generations,” adds Albir. “With this new partnership, we aim to further minimize our environmental footprint.”
