Attorney Joanne Thelmo, whose distinguished legal career includes significant experience in the non-profit, corporate and government arenas, has joined the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) as Vice President and General Counsel.
 
Ms. Thelmo's previous positions include General Counsel and Senior Vice President at the National Community Pharmacists Association; Senior Business Affairs Attorney at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting; Associate General Counsel at Conservation International; and Corporate Counsel at France Telecom North America.
 
"Joanne Thelmo brings to the table broad and deep knowledge, experience and proficiency that will greatly serve ACI and its membership," said Ernie Rosenberg, ACI President & CEO.
 
As ACI's chief legal officer, Ms. Thelmo will be a member of the senior management group and oversee all association corporate governance and related legal activities, serve as the primary liaison to members of ACI's Legal Committee, and provide legal guidance to the association and its members on relevant laws, regulations and court decisions as well as serve as corporate secretary.
 
Ms. Thelmo earned her Juris Doctorate at Georgetown Law, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Georgetown University; and completed studies in Comparative Asian Law at the National University of Singapore Law School, and in French studies at L'Université de Caen, France.
 
Ms. Thelmo has served as a law clerk for the United States Senate Subcommittee on Administrative Oversight and the Courts and clerked for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development Board of Contract Appeals.  She is a member of the District of Columbia and United States Supreme Court bars.
