The American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association has announced the newest addition to its advocacy team: Lynn Kenney. Kenney is joining ASHE’s professional staff as the senior analyst for advocacy. She will play a key role in the continued success of the Society’s nationally recognized advocacy program, which works for better codes and standards affecting health care facilities.

Kenney has more than 15 years of experience at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), where she was most recently a health care product manager. As part of her work with the NFPA, Kenney has developed key relationships with health care advocacy contacts in important organizations, including the Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Kenney started at the NFPA in 1998 as a marketing and training project manager. Over the years, she developed expertise in health care compliance issues and became passionate about efforts to improve the health care physical environment. She is an ASHE member.

Kenney will work with ASHE Director of Codes and Standards Chad Beebe, AIA, SASHE, and Senior Associate Director of Advocacy Jonathan Flannery, MHSA, CHFM, FASHE. The advocacy team works to update and improve various codes and standards regulating hospitals and other health care facilities.

Since 2012, ASHE has hired six new staff members to meet the needs of its growing membership, including Kenney, Flannery, Administrative Coordinator Son Cao, Financial Analyst Chiquita Hodges, Marketing Project Manager Rachelle Patsey, and Senior Editor Dojna Shearer.
