The American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), one of three AHA personal membership groups that collaborated to create the Sustainability Roadmap, welcomes the first 10 allies to the program. By becoming allies, these organizations are demonstrating that they value the Sustainability Roadmap and recognize the importance of sustainability in the health care industry.
The 10 healthcare facilities include:
- Boulder Medical Center, Boulder, Colo.
- Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Christiansburg, Va.
- Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, N.H.
- Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vt.
- Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, Falls Church, Va.
- Kaiser Permanente, Oakland, Calif.
- North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System, Manhasset, N.Y.
- Sky Lakes Medical Center, Klamath Falls, Ore.
- Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System, Palo Alto, Calif.
- Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover, N.H.
The Sustainability Roadmap website provides free, practical tools to help health care facilities reduce their environmental footprints. It shows hospitals how to implement real-world sustainability projects, enhance existing efforts, and share their environmental successes with other facilities. The Roadmap was created by three AHA personal membership groups—ASHE, the Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE), and the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM)s.
