Business and growth concept

ASHRAE is pleased to announce the introduction of bipartisan resolutions in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives designating June 11-15, 2018 as “High Performance Building Week.” The U.S. Senate resolution was introduced by Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) and cosponsored by Senators Corey Gardner (R-CO), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD).  The U.S. House of Representatives resolution was introduced by Representatives Peter Welch (D-VT) and David McKinley (R-WV), who serve as co-chairs of the High Performance Building Caucus.

“This resolution recognizes the importance of the built environment and celebrates the contributions of engineers, architects, builders, code officials, tradespeople, design and construction professionals,” says 2017-18 ASHRAE President Bjarne W. Olesen, Ph.D. “ASHRAE is excited to support High Performance Building Week as we work together to advance innovative building technologies and energy efficiency.”

The Congressional resolution supports efforts to improve the performance of existing and future buildings through the adoption of best practices and voluntary consensus standards relating to commercial and residential buildings. It also encourages public-private partnerships, dialogues on innovative policies and programs, and supports investment in research, training and education.

High Performance Building Week was created by a coalition comprised of approximately 200 organizations who together support cost effective policies that advance high performance buildings.
